Forbes’ Hip-Hop Cash Kings List 2009

What was almost a given: that Jay-Z would top this list (with $63M). What I’m somewhat surprised about: the fact that Soulja Boy ($8M) made more than T-Pain ($6M). What sends an interesting message: the 3-headed monster (Dr. Dre, Eminem & 50 Cent) are all still making enough money to make the list despite not a whole lot of new music being produced….anyways, check out the list here.

Lil’ Wayne – "Just Another Day" (From WeezyThanxYou.com)

What’s poppin?!
Me, I’m good, figured I’d update my glorious fans again. Better sooner than later right? I’ll try to do this more frequently.
Well ain’t nothing going on in here but the time, which seems like it’s taking forever. I’m trying to make the most out of every second tho, mentally. There’s some pretty cool people in here. Even though this isn’t a cool place to be. I’ve learned plenty already and the best lesson is to not come back. Last night, I kicked ass in UNO! Anyway, that’s neither here nor there. Just thought I’d let y’all know. Gotta stay hydrated. Though it’s hot, I still work out. Now don’t be expecting me to look like Hercules when I get out, but I should be a little bulky. I guess. Anyways, please remember to always check for your name in the “thank yous”. I’m always reading letters and responding. Off the subject but her Chris, I think you should team up with Kobe! Go Lakers! Hey Lindsey, glad it’s over doll. I should have written her huh? Young Money, you’re the best I ever had. Look out for Nino 3, and I Am Not A Human Being. Coming soon. Mother, I love you. Nae, you’re my angel. Lil Tunechi Jr., you’re the man. Lil Kam, you’re the best heartbreaker. Lil Neal, you’re the littler meatball.
I love you all!

G-Unit Signs With EMI

G-Unit Records has entered into an exclusive agreement with EMI Label Services in which EMI will distribute and promote releases on the G-Unit roster in North America. EMI will release the Grammy nominated multi-platinum rapper Lloyd Banks’ third solo album “H.F.M. 2” (Hunger For More 2) on November 23rd, 2010, and Tony Yayo’s as yet untitled sophomore album, which is scheduled for early 2011.
G-Unit, formerly with Interscope Records, is joining a growing number of third party labels and artists to ink deals with EMI Label Services. EMI Label Services’ unique approach gives independent artists and labels creative freedom along with access to the expertise, marketing and promotional muscle of a major label.
If this isn’t a sign of the times, I don’t know what is.

Foxy Brown’s Brother Arrested In Credit Card Scam

Foxy Brown’s brother/rapper Gavin “Pretty Boy” Marchand was among the men arrested for allegedly using a stolen credit card to purchase designer clothes in Manhattan.
Gavin Marchand was arrested last Saturday (August 7th) for allegedly possessing a forged American Express card to purchase almost $8,000 worth of clothes from the Hermes store on Madison Avenue.
According to the New York Post, police were inside the store conducting surveillance when Gavin, 35, and three associates arrived at the high-end boutique.
A 31-year-old man named Warren David allegedly attempted to use the card. When the men attempted to leave the store, police approached them, but the driver, Derwin Benoit, led police on a 90-mph chase, before he finally pulled over and surrendered.
“I don’t know anything about that,” Foxy Brown told the New York Post as she left a grand jury hearing yesterday, for allegedly violating a restraining order against her neighbor last month.
Gavin Marchand briefly served as Foxy Brown’s spokesman/manager.
In addition to rhyming, Gavin also served as the executive producer of Foxy Brown’s album Broken Silence.
If convicted, Gavin Marchand could serve up to eight years in prison.

Rock (of Heltah Skeltah) – Rockin’ Out West (Artwork & Tracklisting)

Coming 9/7. Details and tracklisting after the jump.

Rockin Out West is my latest gem. Most diamonds are rocks that form under high-pressure high-temperature conditions but at the end you get something beautiful, something special, a gem. That’s all a metaphor for the case I faced over the past two and a half years. The case and the pressure I was under created the climate that gave me the fuel and the fire to do this project. It happened on accident, but then again I don’t really believe in accidents.

Bun B Speaks On ‘Bun B For President’

From VIBE:

“I never could figure out how to approach the record. It almost sounded crazy for me to say ‘Bun B For President,’” “It was an incredible song. I really loved the track, which J. Cole produced as well. I originally talked to him about a beat and he was like, ‘Oh I got music all day. Would you mind if I sent you something with a verse on it.’ I’m like, ‘I wasn’t even gon’ go there but by all means…’ And when he sent it, all we did all day was sit around and listen to that song, like, ‘Do you hear this? What do you do to this? I don’t even know what to do to this.’ So it was just something that we had to put to the side.”

Angel Lola Luv Responds To Karrine Stephans’ ‘Life After’

lola-monroe-2012-coral-jacket

Well, I suppose someone was going to eventually. D.C. video vixen turned emcee Angel Lola Luv decided to speak on that show through Twitter:

So, I just watched the “Superhead” Life After …..and because I know a lot of other women and young girls have watched as well…I just want you guys to know and understand that is ABSOLUTELY NOT the blueprint to success or fame! We as women are worth so much more! No matter what lows we come from (abuse, poverty, traumas..etc) we still are strong amazing creations of God! Don’t ever let your upbringings or experiences be excuses for the choices that you make in your life! I DIDN’T!!!!

Read the rest after the jump.

With faith and a desire for growth your past wont effect your future for the worst. Instead it will create a fortitude in your character preparing you for anything your future hits you with. No one is perfect and we all have made mistakes but you learn from those mistakes become better and teach others. That is what life is about.

I’m not going to speak too much on her. I’ve done that already. My issue is her polluting the youth’s mental into believing that is what you have to do for fame. If you are going to capitalize off of this at least while doing so teach to do better. Especially after knowing you have the youth’s attention. Her reality isn’t every female in the game’s reality. (Not to mention she was never known to be a video vixen until the book) There are a lot of strong goal oriented women in the game. If you are aspiring to get in the business, her route should NEVER be an option!. I have so much love for all my ladies so I just want you guys to know that you have the power to take control of anything. that goes on w/ you and your life PERIOD! I had to overcome obstacles, grow and guide ‘myself’ at a young age.. #AnythingIsPossible xOxO*
