Spotted on MTV:
For 17 years, XXL Magazine has been a staple within the hip-hop community, and though it was reported that the brand would put it’s print edition to bed, MTV News has learned that isn’t the case at all.
“We are going to continue doing magazines,” XXL’s editor-in-chief Vanessa Satten told MTV News in an exclusive interview on Tuesday (October 14).
Satten confirmed with us that XXL will put out another issue before the end of the calender year. Their current October/November issue features 50 Cent’s G-Unit crew on the cover and was reportedly set to be the brand’s last, according to the New York Post.
The initial reports came in September after Harris Publications sold XXL to Townsquare Media, a digital-based giant which raised about $100 million in an initial public offering earlier this year thanks to it’s 331 radio stations and music-based websites. Satten says news of XXL‘s move to a digital-only format came prematurely and after a very swift sale.
It was a whirlwind of a time for the brand’s staff.
“It was a shift early on, everything happened suddenly,” she explained. “We found out [about the sale] on a Monday, we’re packing on a Tuesday and we’re in the new office by Wednesday morning. We were surprised by the whole thing.”
Before the sale, XXL was on a bi-monthly publishing schedule, but starting in 2015 the mag will come out four times a year, a Townsquare rep tells us. Satten also assured fans that the brand’s annual freshman issue isn’t going anywhere.
“We’ll do another issue this year, several issues next year, I’m not exactly sure what the number is, we’ll figure it out but [they’ll] definitely [be] magazines next year,” she said of the new and developing plan with Townsquare. “There’ll definitely be Freshmen and we’re going on with a new company.”
This artwork is creeped-out….anyways, Bobby Shmurda — who isn’t too happy about the music biz, as of late — will be dropping his 5-track EP on November 10th. Tracklisting below (you can preorder here).

Flame was busted at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when a security scan turned up a loaded handgun in his bag.
Waka didn’t have a permit, so he was arrested and charged with Carrying a Weapon in a Prohibited Place. He was taken to Clayton County jail.
Since the story went out, Waka’s momager Deb Antney explaining that he simply mixed up his bag with his fiancé.
In related news, the rapper also dropped a freestyle to Rich Gang’s ‘Lifestyle’, which you can check out below.
Earlier this week, Wendy Williams was on the Elvis Duran Morning Show (above), and when the topic of Charlamagne Tha God came up, she gave a surprising response of having no idea who Charlamagne is. This comes as a huge surprise being that Wendy Williams brought Tha God into the media world in the first place, and he has pretty much been loyal to her even after they’ve moved on into their different ventures….
Or did he?
Below, you can check out Charlamagne’s own 10-plus minute response, which he did during his Brilliant Idiots podcast with Andrew Schultz:
While everyone is trying to figure out what caused the apparent rift, the below excerpt was found on the website FenomLife:
Many may not know, Bethenny was once a regular guest on the top rated “Wendy Williams Show.” Once she got the green light for her very own show, she allegedly began recruiting Wendy’s staff including her talent booker, Marigo Mihalos who left Wendy high and dry.
Well, if that wasn’t enough of a stab in the back, Bethenny went for blood by featuring Wendy’s former sidekick, Charlamagne on her show. This hurt Wendy to the core considering she gave him his start he repaid her by getting in bed with her arch-enemy.
Not sure if Charlamagne was oblivious to the rift Bethenny started with Wendy when he agreed to become a regular guest on her show but he should certainly understand why she questioned his loyalty after the fact.
Whether this is in fact what caused the issue is to be seen. Stay tuned.

Rapper Too Short just got away with a crime that lands most people in jail … taking a loaded gun to an airport … then fleeing in his socks.
The rapper was at Burbank Airport Thursday when he put his bag on the conveyor belt, and as it rolled he realized there was a loaded gun inside. We’re told his reaction was immediately — GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE.
Problem is … Short’s wallet and shoes were also on the conveyor, so he left in his socks and without cash.
We’re told Too Short got in his car, drove off and called his lawyer and asked what to do. We’re told the lawyer told him to go on his merry way and that he’d clean up the mess.
So according to our sources … Short’s lawyer, Keith Davidson, went to Burbank Airport and convinced authorities to merely ticket his client for misdemeanor firearms possession and not arrest him.
Meanwhile … we’re told Too Short went to nearby Van Nuys Airport and took a private jet to SFO.

A stripper claims Drake’s people threatened her after the singer had sex with her … and now there’s an official police investigation … TMZ has learned.
The Houston PD confirms to TMZ … they’ve launched an investigation … but the official document only identifies the male party as a “possible celebrity.”
We’ve learned the stripper — Jhonni Blaze — told cops she and Drake had sex one time and he believed she was going to talk publicly about it.
Blaze says that’s when Drake began “angrily” texting her. She says several people from Drake’s camp then came to her house, banged on her door and threatened her life.
Blaze went to cops but says she’s not sure if she wants to follow through and press charges.
Cops say they want to talk to the “celebrity.”
Sources close to Drake tell us the allegations are absolutely not true.
You can check out the tracklisting for her upcoming project (entirely produced by The Soul Council) below. Beauty & The Beast drops October 7th.

R&B singer Tank got busted using his phone while driving … and ended up getting arrested for the way he dealt with the cops … TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us Tank was in the Van Nuys area of L.A. when officers spotted him behind the wheel, and on his phone — a major no-no in Cali.
We’re told things went south during the stop when officers asked Tank for his drivers license. He allegedly refused to hand it over … so he was arrested and booked for failure to obey an officer.
He was released from jail … and hopped a ride home with friends.
It looks like We The Best head honcho DJ Khaled is taking E One to task over not being paid royalties from past albums (he used to release his music under the former Koch Records). From Hip Hop DX:
According to Billboard, DJ Khaled Productions is seeking at least $1 million over the label’s failure to properly account and pay record and mechanical royalties. The money he is seeking would reportedly cover what he claims are losses across four full-length studio albums released between 2006 and 2010. Those albums include 2006’s Listennn…the Album, We the Best from 2007, 2008’s We Global and Victory released two years after that. The lawsuit also targets DJ Khaled’s Khaled / E Class: Live from the 305, which was released in 2009 and in dispute as eOne claims the project was released under a separate deal with Poe Boy Music Group. Many of the songs Khaled created involved Pitbull, Kanye West, Rick Ross, Ludacris and Lil Wayne, among others and pulled in chart-topping acclaim and RIAA certified Platinum status for certain singles, which would’ve given Khaled and his team handsome returns in royalties.
The first lawsuits summons that were filed by DJ Khaled last May accuse eOne of failing to accurately account for royalties owed, incorrectly characterizing and reporting products it sold and/or licensed and refusing to allow an audit of their accounting practices during the time to determine how much he actually lost.
eOne filed a motion on Wednesday claiming it’s exemption from most of Khaled’s claims, stating it did release the accounting Khaled requests audited and says his accounting rights are limited over the preceding two year period beginning upon delivery of the accounting statement via a clause in his contract. eOne also pointed to another clause limiting him the right to pursue litigation up to one year after the “objection period.” This would make most of DJ Khaled’s lawsuit “contractually barred from asserting the claims set forth in the complaint for the periods 2006 through 2010.”

Chris Brown was not pleased after TMZ posted a video of him Monday shoving a female fan after she got too close. The 26-year-old singer posted a photo on Instagram of the celebrity gossip site’s founder, Harvey Levin, calling him “the devil.”
Brown wrote Monday alongside a picture of Levin’s face, “What the devil looks like in person. Lol. You sad little man. You’ve been trying for years to destroy me. It won’t work. Your efforts are flattering. When you look back on your life when it’s that time for you to depart, what can u actually say you’ve accomplished in life? Bringing people down and being the number one source for negativity. Life’s too short homie. Find some sort of happiness. You are a grown a—man. God bless you bruh [sic].” The picture has since been deleted.

Channel 2 Action News is hearing from a man who says he chased the gunman who shot an Atlanta rapper’s father.
People in a northwest Atlanta community say the victim is Corey Lamar, father of Dequantes Lamar who is also known as rapper Rich Homie Quan.
Some people at Corey Lamar’s Barbershop, on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, are wondering if an alleged feud between Quan and other rappers led to Corey Lamar being shot four times inside his barbershop.
Atlanta police say the gunman came in the shop and opened fire.
“I heard about three gunshots, and so I saw the guy come out,” said witness Van White.
White says he heard the gunshots, saw the gunman and chased after him, but he got away.
“He got in a black car, and that’s all I know from there,” White said.
One barber said he went to the back, and another barber said he left the shop. They say that’s when the gunman came in.
Workers at the shop told Jones someone shot up the shop about a month ago.
Jones talked to several people who believe the shooting is a result of Quan feuding with or disrespecting other rappers in songs.
Police wouldn’t comment on that and say their investigation continues. But in at least one interview, Quan repeatedly said he isn’t feuding with one rapper in question.
Corey Lamar is in stable condition.
Check out the artwork for Vince Staples’ upcoming project, Hell Can Wait, above. The release date for the project was pushed back to October 7th.
In addition to the album’s standard artwork (as well as the tracklisting and title track), we now get a pretty powerful image in the Deluxe cover for Logic’s upcoming album Under Pressure, which drops October 21st.
Future is gearing up for the release of his new mixtape ‘Monster’ (he recently also dropped the song of the same name) which will be executive produced by Metro Boomin and drops October 28th.
Remember this gem? Now think about hearing that greatness across an entire project. Spotted on XXL:
Preemo and Nickel Nine have shared exclusively with XXL that they’re putting out their first official full-length collaboration LP, set to drop sometime this year. Featuring the likes of Killer Mike, Jay Electronica, Common, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, Slaughterhouse, Mac Miller and Dwele for the LP, the duo are planning to go big or go home with the project.
“I want people to appreciate the fact that we didn’t compromise in lieu of the environment. In order to try to change the way that people digest music, we had to take a leap of faith,” says Royce. DJ Premier adds, “The bar has to be high. For this album to be another body of work and another chapter for both of our lives.”

According to the Washington Post, some members of the DC Metropolitan Police Department will begin testing a program involving wearing body cameras starting next week. Police chief Cathy Lanier and Mayor Vincent Gray announced today the program, which has been in development for over a year. Although the 165 officers testing the program make up less than five percent of the overall police force, hopefully more officers will begin wearing cameras soon. Read more HERE.
From TMZ:
Amber Rose has filed for divorce from husband-of-1-year Wiz Khalifa … and she’s gunning for full custody of their kid … TMZ has learned.
In the divorce docs — obtained by TMZ — Amber says they split on Monday and cites irreconcilable differences.
Amber is asking for full legal and physical custody of their 1-year-old son Sebastian. She’s willing to give Wiz visitation.
And this is interesting. Amber acknowledges there’s a prenup, which you would think would work in Wiz’ favor, but she says it’s valid … presumably, she’s not challenging it. The docs say the prenup provides spousal support.
As for why they split, there’s been a buzz over the last few days of infidelity, but there’s no mention of it in the papers.
We got video (below) of Amber with some guy Tuesday in Bev Hills. Our photog asks her if Wiz is keeping a close eye on Nick Cannon — there are rumors they’ve hooked up, but she’s mum.
Sources connected with the couple say the split is bitter.
For whatever reasons, Bow Wow felt that Erica Mena (better known for her relationship issues on the “trash TV” reality show Love & Hip-Hop) was the one to lock down, as he and the model/singer announced that they were engaged.
Mena made sure to let the viewers know during her walk on the BET Hip-Hop Awards red carpet below (of which you can check out a recap here); Bow Wow (aka Chad Moss) did so by flashing the engagement jewelry on his Instagram (you can see that in the above gallery).
Congrats to the couple.
