REPORT: Florence Welch (@flo_tweet) Performs Kendrick Lamar On The London Tube

I hope we can snag a visual soon (if ever). From Gigwise:

Kendrick Lamar’s concert at the Hammersmith Apollo was star studded, with attendees including Nicola Roberts, Jameela Jamil and Tinie Tempah.

However, Florence was the only one to get the tube on her way home, to try and avoid the traffic.

A source tells The Sun, “Florence jumped on the Tube after Kendrick and, as you can imagine, every carriage was packed. At first she tried to keep a low profile but it didn’t take long for a few people to recognise her.

“They started singing ‘You Got The Love’ but instead of bailing at the next stop, Florence joined in. It was brilliant. She finished ‘You’ve Got The Love’ before changing to the Kendrick Lamar song ‘Backseat Freestyle’.”

Florence has been a hip-hop and r&b fan for a while, as she previously toured with Canadian r&b artist The Weeknd. She’s also good friends with A$AP Rocky, and featured on his track ‘I Come Apart’.

Basically, K-Dot says Q is up next for real:

“Any advice I would give to Q is really just continue to do what he been doin’. It’s definitely the big leagues, but he got it,” Kendrick told MTV News on Saturday in New York City. “I ain’t gotta tell him too much, because we sat in that studio throughout them years together and planned out what’s to come in the future, and the future is now, so he already know. Just continue doin’ what he been doin’, and everything else will prosper behind that.”

Kendrick Lamar (@KendrickLamar) To Appear On Saturday Night Live

kl

From MTV:

Live from New York, it’s Adam Levine! The Maroon 5 frontman and “Voice” mentor has been confirmed to host “Saturday Night Live” later this month.

He will become a first-time host during the January 26 airing of the longtime late-night comedy staple. He will be joined by musical guest and good kid, m.A.A.d city rapper Kendrick Lamar, who is all set to take the famed “SNL” stage that same night.

This is Lamar’s first time on the show. However, this hardly marks the first time that Levine has been on the show. Maroon 5 was a musical guest back in 2004 when his one-time “Voice” co-mentor Christina Aguilera hosted. The band has since been on the show several more times including appearances in 2007, 2011 and 2012.

GQ Kendrick Lamar (@KendrickLamar) Interview

Kendrick gets interviewed in GQ magazine.  Read Here, excerpts below.

GQ: I feel like rappers from LA have a bit of an inferiority complex. They have to represent the resurgence of West Coast hip-hop from the moment they get a little buzz. Did you feel that?
Kendrick Lamar: You know, it’s crazy. From the moment I started writing raps, I was always aware of the pressure. I always wanted to live up to how huge Snoop got, how huge Dre got, how huge Pac got. I was always aware. But by the time I got [the pressure], it was a whole new story. When you get that attention, you really have to execute. That pressure turned into a little bit more excitement, a little more dedication in the studio.

GQ: People love the album and a lot has been written about it. Has anyone misconstrued parts of it?
Kendrick Lamar: A few people think that these stories are just different events throughout my whole life. That story is just one day, one full day. Some things that always happened throughout the days and throughout the weeks, but that was just one particular day that really turned my whole life around and I understood what I should be doing is something positive, which is music right now. They don’t know me yet. They might think they know me, but they don’t.

Kendrick Lamar (@KendrickLamar) – Powerhouse 2012 Interview & Performance

Interview courtesy of Bootleg Kev:

I got to sit down with the good homie Kendrick Lamar backstage at Powerhouse 2012! We speak on him doing crazy numbers for GKMC the first week, what his expectations were for the album, In retrospect how important it was for him to be on the Club Paradise Tour, the new joint with J.Cole “The Jig Is Up” and wether or not they will finally drop a project together, being the leader of the new wave of respectable Hip Hop artists, how to balance doing “Kendrick” type records and doing more ignorant stuff like the verse on “Fuckin’ Problems”, How he feels about The Game sticking up for him in regards to the Shyne situation, where Sherane is today, how he feels about people calling the album a “Classic”, wether or not he is working on album #2 again, and more! Also included is video of Kendrick performing “Westside Right On Time” at Powerhouse 2012.
